Only 20
kilometres from the centre of Stockholm
lies one of the most unspoilt areas of
natural beauty in central Sweden -
Tyresta National Park and Nature Reserve.
The area is characterised by a rift
valley landscape which is typical for
central Sweden but unique in an
international perspective.

Kroppefjäll – a paradise in
Dalsland between Karlstad and Gothenburg. You can choose to stay
at our new hotel or somewhat less luxurious in one of our youth
hostel cottages that are more than a hundred years old. It is
all there, in the park on the mountain. Kroppefjäll, with
centuries-old traditions of keep-fit activities, is regarded as
the healthiest place in the county of Dalsland.

| Welcome to the countryside! |
|
In
Sweden, everyone has the right to be out in the
countryside-- visitors from abroad as well as Swedish
citizens. We call this "the right of public
access". It is a benefit not found in a great many
other countries. One may also look upon the right of
public access as a great freedom. But our freedom in the
countryside must not infringe upon the freedom of others.
The
right of public access requires consideration,
responsibility and good judgement. We must not damage
the landscape or animal life, and we must show
consideration for both landowners and for others who are
out in the countryside. The
essence of the right of public access is concisely
expressed by the phrase, "Do not disturb, do not
destroy".

| Timber
- raft on the river Klarälven, Värmland |
|
Floating peacefully down
on the river Klarälven on a timber-raft fulfilled one
of my most cherished childhood dreams. Seeing Värmland´s
wild nature and the tiny villages of Klarälven valley
from the river gave me the feeling that the bustle and
stress of everyday life had ceased to exist.
